The Easiest Way To Get Positive Word of Mouth

My good friend, Gary DeCavage owner and art director of Promo Marketing LLC (www.promollc.com) is in the business of helping his clients create word of mouth with creative promotional items. I asked him what was the most unusual item he ever produced and he told me about the invitations to an NBA special event that he created on a basketball. Frankly, I thought the logo on a pair of lady’s underwear was pretty unusual, but that will be the subject of another post….maybe.

Yet even though Gary helps his clients generate word of mouth with tchotchkes, he gets tons of referrals and positive word of mouth for his company by following three simple rules:

1. Do what you say you’re going to do for customers.

2. Take care of mistakes right away.

3. Don’t let anything go out of the shop that isn’t perfect.

Operating under these rules clearly sets him apart from others in the highly competitive promotional item industry where missed deadlines, mis-spelled company names and delivering the wrong items are fairly common occurrences. When I asked Gary what his customers say about him he said, “We do good work”.

It seems so easy, but so many companies just don’t get it. Every business out there that chooses not to do the right thing for customers makes it easier for companies like Promo Marketing to stand out from the crowd. They have been in business for over 25 years a sign that his strategy is working.

Now, I’ve got to find out from Gary if I spelled tchotchkes right.
